On October 11 at Hon La Port (Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province), Quang Binh Department of Tourism had cooperated with other tourism businesses to hold a welcome ceremony for the high-class ship Le Lapérouse transported nearly 100 tourists worldwide, making it the first international cruise vessel to arrive in Quang Binh.
Le Lapérouse will have been stopped by Quang Binh three times on the 11, 15, and 31 of October to visit well-known tourist attractions such as Paradis Cave, Mooc Spring Eco-trail, Phong Nha Cave, Phong Nha Botanical Garden, Dong Hoi city, Canh Duong mural village, etc.
Travelers onboard the Le Lapérouse come from the United States, France, Germany, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, etc. The cruise ship departed from Indonesia and passed through Singapore before reaching Vietnam. It had visited Con Dao, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Da Nang, and Hue previously in Vietnam and will continue its journey to Quang Nam, Ha Long.
Nguyen Ngoc Quy, director of Quang Binh’s Department of Tourism, informed that the arrival of this international ship would mark a fundamental milestone for the continued diversification and perfection of Quang Binh’s tourism products, commensurating with the potential and competitive advantages of the province’s tourism resources. Europe tourists, which is the key market of Quang Binh tourism, often travel to Quang Binh from October to April with high affordability, making a significant contribution to the full coverage of tourists throughout the year.
Cruise tourism is a special type of tourism that brings high revenue, however, it also requires a high service standard from local travel agencies. Sea tourism in Quang Binh has developed for years, but cruise tourism has not been considered recently.
Currently, the Hon La International Port project is being invested with a total investment of more than 2,100 billion VND with 4 berths. Phase 1 is expected to be completed in 2024, including a 50,000 DWT berth and 100,000 DWT berth for large ships.
The ship’s scale of under 150 passengers is suitable for European tourism as well as the infrastructure of Hon La Port.
Quang Binh is a natural, attractive, and distinctive tourist destination with a coastline of more than 116km and a wide range of tourist attractions for both families and adventurers around the world.
Le Lapérouse is a high-class, luxury cruise ship that was newly put into use in 2018. It has 132m long, 28m high, 18m wide, and displaces 1,370 tons, which is a compact design to access small-to-medium seaports.
There are only 92 rooms onboard, with the highlight of the Blue Eye room, an underwater chamber that allows passengers to see ahead, behind, and below the ship. The cost for a cruise on this ship is about 12,000 USD/pax. |
